Maritime Transport is a UK-based, market-leading intermodal logistics company which provides container transport and storage, freight management, curtain-sided distribution and intermodal services. JLM was contracted to provide a comprehensive programme of works to a Maritime Transport satellite drivers’ hub and management office, located in Trafford Park, Manchester.
As part of the project, JLM’s electrical engineers completed the installation of an MCCB panel board and split-metered distribution boards, earthing and bonding, lightning/surge protection, containment installation, mechanical plant power supplies and small power installation to all areas, utilising 63 amp busbar trunking and floor boxes.
We designed and installed a lighting system which included lighting and emergency lighting in the office areas as well as external lighting and lighting control systems, including 20-metre columns. We installed and set up a Building Management System - BMS to control the various systems, as part of which we also configured and installed CCTV and security systems, fire detection and alarm systems, disabled alert systems and data/networking connections.
Finally, we installed automated security gates to the site entrance and supplied and installed 20Kw roof-mounted solar PV panels to provide a source of renewable energy, as well as installing multiple 3-phase fast-charge EV charging points in the development’s parking facilities.
Mechanical services carried out by JLM as part of the project included general gas and water mains services, with the supply and installation of a new water supply, meter and pipework, including dedicated water supply to the building plant room, containing CAT5 boosted cold water storage, water treatment, and a CHP boiler.
We also supplied and installed new gas housing, gas meter and pipework supply to the building plant room and LTHW heating system to the back of house areas. We provided a new above-ground drainage system with a petrol interceptor.
We installed mechanical multi-ventilation heat recovery, and wet underfloor heating, to all WCs and shower areas, and supplied and installed sanitary ware including Doc M shower packs and kitchen domestic services including hot and cold water.
In addition, we designed and fitted VRF Mitsubishi HVAC — heating, ventilation, and air conditioning — systems within all office areas. Finally, we provided and configured a Building Management System (BMS) to manage these systems centrally.
