Maritime Transport is a UK-based, market-leading intermodal logistics company which provides container transport and storage, freight management, curtain-sided distribution and intermodal services.
As a specialist in industrial applications of mechanical and electrical engineering, JLM was contracted to provide a comprehensive programme of works to one of Maritime Transport’s satellite drivers’ hubs, located near Wakefield, West Yorkshire.
Our electrical engineering team carried out a range of services, including the installation of a new main switchboard and new distribution boards, earthing and bonding and containment installation, as well as providing lightning and surge protection. In addition, we completed small power installations to the office areas, process areas and workshops and installed mechanical plant power supplies.
We designed, supplied and installed a new lighting system incorporating interior lighting and emergency lighting to the office areas, process areas and workshops, as well as external lighting and lighting control systems. Following this, we designed, configured and installed a CCTV and security system, disabled alert system and fire detection and alarm system, including the installation of data/networking infrastructure.
Exterior services included the installation of multiple 3-phase fast-charge EV charging points and the installation of automated security gates.
Mechanical services carried out by JLM as part of the project included the supply and installation of a new water supply, meter and pipework, including dedicated water supply to the building plant room, as well as new gas housing, gas meter and pipework supply to the building plant room. To the exterior, we provided a new above-ground drainage system with a petrol interceptor.
We installed an Andrews gas-fired hot water cylinder system and provided gas radiant heating to the workshop and warehouse areas. We installed mechanical ventilation to WCs, supplied and installed sanitary ware and installed kitchen domestic services including hot and cold water. In addition, we designed and fitted VRF Heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems within all office areas.
